NEW DELHI: A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court regarding the CA exam . It has been announced that a hearing will be held today. What exactly does ICAI say?
A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court against the backdrop of the Corona period. The main demand in the petition is to either postpone the CA examination or increase the number of examination centers. This will be heard today. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) told the court on Monday that the number of corona cases is low at present. That is why the exams on July 5 should not be canceled or postponed.
According to ICAI, out of 3.7 lakh candidates, 2.8 lakh students have downloaded the admit card. Not only this, ICAI has also taken all the necessary steps for the safety of the students. In particular, the Supreme Court had in November 2020 approved the ICAI to conduct the exam. At that time, 45,000 corona cases were coming out every day. Now that is 48 thousand. The ICAI also demanded that the Center should give the status of e-pass to the hall tickets or admission cards of the students and the Supreme Court should also give instructions to the central government.
What exactly are the demands in the petition?
Advocate Sahay’s petition seeks to increase the number of examination centers. The petition demands that there should be at least one examination center in each district and that the examination should be conducted in a different manner. The petition also seeks to extend one more opportunity to students appearing for intermediate as well as final examinations based on the old syllabus.
So postpone the exam
Other demands made in the petition include instructions for travel and accommodation of the candidates, teachers and staff stationed at the centers should be given a dose of covid, students coming for the exams should be vaccinated, if all these facilities are not available then the exams should be postponed.
