An 8-year-old girl has been diagnosed with Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome (MISC) in a suspected case of coronavirus in Delhi . This disease occurs after infection with Covid-19. The hospital authorities gave this information on Thursday. Usually this disease can arise 3 to 6 weeks after infection.
Doctors told that it is important to detect MIS-C at an early stage to prevent death. It is an immune system disease caused by an inflammatory response in the body, usually found in children. Its uncontrolled can be fatal.
The hospital said in a statement that the girl was brought to Apollo Hospital here in early June. The girl’s condition was critical due to low blood pressure, low oxygen levels and slow pulse. She was not found to be infected with Covid-19 but was found to have high levels of Covid antibodies, making it a case of MIS-C.
A hospital spokeswoman said she was suspected to have been an asymptomatic, coronavirus patient. Dr. Nameet Jerath, Senior Consultant in Pediatric Intensive Room said that the baby was in dire need of ventilator and oxygen level was also getting low so we decided to put her on ECMO immediately. His condition gradually improved and he was removed from ECMO a week later.
He said that the post-coronavirus disease MIS-C can arise three to six weeks after infection with no symptoms or symptoms and early detection is important to prevent death. Dr. Muthu Jyothi, Senior Consultant in Pediatric Cardiology said that this disease can occur in children who do not have severe symptoms of Covid-19.
The girl was admitted to a local hospital where her condition deteriorated after she complained of high fever, abdominal pain, vomiting and persistent headache for a week, the statement said. After this he was sent to the pediatric doctors of Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals.
