India vs Australia Test Series: BCCI Announces Squad for T20I Series and Border-Gavaskar Trophy
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has selected an 18-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa and the much-awaited Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. While Abhimanyu Eswaran, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Harshit Rana were included in the national team, Ruturaj Gaikwad was not selected for the team which left many Indian fans disappointed.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been impressive in domestic cricket this season, scoring impressive runs in the Duleep Trophy, Irani Cup and Ranji Trophy for Maharashtra. He recently assumed the role of captain of the India A team, raising questions on social media: “Why was Ruthuraj not selected?”

There are early indications that Ruturaj may get a chance to join the squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, especially with India’s Test captain Rohit Sharma uncertain about the first match in Perth. This situation has prompted the BCCI to consider options for Rohit. Yassavi Jaiswal is set to open, but the question is who will pair up with him if Rohit is unavailable. In view of Rohit’s absence, the BCCI has picked Bengal’s Abhimanyu Easwaran, who is in excellent form with four centuries in his last four matches. Shubman Gill, known for his experience as an opening batsman, is also in the list. The selectors will have to replace Rohit with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Abhimanyu Easwaran.
