Prepare Chickpeas: Soak black chickpeas in water for about 7-8 hours. After soaking and puffing them, put them in a pressure cooker with peeled potatoes. Add some masa and cloves for more flavor, cover and cook on medium flame for 3-4 whistles.

Cut and prepare: After cooking, allow the pressure to release naturally. Peel the potatoes and cut them into small pieces. Chop onion and grind tomato, ginger and garlic to a paste.

Mix the ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the cooked chickpeas, potato chunks, chopped onion and tomato-ginger-garlic paste. Add all the spices and mix well. Cover this mixture with a plate and let it sit for some time to allow the flavors to blend.

Cooking Curry: Heat a cooker on stove and add cumin seeds. When they start to crackle, add chopped onions and fry till golden brown. Then, add the chickpea and potato mixture to the cooker. Add about half a glass of water and mix well.

Final Step: Cover the cooker and let it cook for about 10 minutes. Keep checking in between to make sure it doesn’t burn. When the onion is completely melted and the mixture looks thick, sprinkle some kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves) in it. Adjust the amount of water according to the amount of gravy you want and let it cook for 1-2 whistles.

Garnish and serve: After cooking, switch off the flame and allow the cooker to cool. Garnish with fresh coriander before serving.

Your Aloo Chana Curry is now ready! Eat it with rice or chapati and get satisfied. This dish will not only satisfy you but also delight your taste buds!
